BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

November 4, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 20:05 by President Lombardo.

The Secretarys Report was read and accepted.

The Treasurers Report was read and accepted. Total cash roughly $35,000.

Shows - New chiller purchased for shows temporarily lent to one of the schools which will replace with the same model. Motion was made to lend this chiller with the assumption that it will be replaced in a timely manner. Discount admission tix may be in doubt. No official word on this yet. Oz brought up idea of new flat screen monitor and DVD player. Motion for $750 made and passed. LI Fly Rodders offer $5 off admission tix to Somerset Show for a dozen tied flies donated for them to sell.

Dams Finnesville by 2010, Groendyke down and out, Fibermark in debate. Seibert probably not this year, perhaps next. Solitude Dam will stay b/o power generation plant which will be put up with private $. Similar situation on Musky is being investigated, though MWA is doubtful to support such a plan.

Membership -

Increasing Member Participation - Bart led a discussion on the issue of enhancing member participation in projects. Postcard reminders, Action Alerts, questioning members directly, newspaper advertising in volunteers needed section, personalities of leaders, acknowledgement of volunteer activity, T-shirts, listing of directors on new web site with hidden links to their email for contacts were topics discussed.

Programs & Speakers - Rich Murphy this month. Oz will do a show in Spring on TIC web site will invite all interested parties from the schools to the meeting. Rodger Licandro, Rod Rohrback, Dr. Carle f/u on Trichoptera study, Rob Nicholas on Housatonic,

NLC - Rich Thomas presented the 5 Year Strategic Plan developed at the 2008 National Meeting.

State Council Meeting - Idea to partner with us for a raffle to use out permit was discussed. They would pay us a percentage (~10%). The raffles would be going on at roughly the same time. This would not be acceptable because our raffle is our major fundraiser. If the raffles were not done at the same time and with different types of prizes, the partnering concept could work. Motion to loan our gaming license to the State Council to do their own raffle and not share any proceeds with us as long as this is not illegal made and passed.

Point Mountain - Rich Post will take over.

Fund Raising - 2009 raffle - Art will craft a bamboo rod, committee will decide on reel etc. Dick, Lou, Bart, Hal, Art.

Pequest Programs - 0

Connetquat Trip - Nov 9. Limited to 15 people.

Trips - Spring Creek early Dec. Contact Hal.

MWA - 0

Old Business - Rahway River Chapter asked to borrow thermal trends units, software etc. that we are not using. Motion made and passed.

New Business - Fly Tying Classes to start in Jan. Musky Funding National running out of funding for Brian Cowden for Dec. State Council is looking to fund him via help of Chapters with funds. CJTU, North, East are being approached to contribute the amount. Motion made for $2K to supplement his salary for the month of Dec. Vote will occur at Dec BOD meeting. Elections Bart reviewed the Director terms. New names solicited for 1 year Directors. Names were suggested and these people will be contacted. Full slate will be ready for next month.
